Your Stay

 

Important Information about your stay . . .

Clothing

A gown, robe and slippers are available. You may be able to wear your own clothing if it does not interfere with medical treatment. Consult your nurse if you have any questions.

Valuables

We ask that you leave jewelry and large amounts of money at home. If any items are brought with and cannot be sent home, they can be locked in the safe located in the Business Office. You will be given a written receipt for all the items, please present this receipt when you withdraw them. St. Francis will not assume responsibility for lost or stolen items not deposited in the safe.

You are encouraged to provide a case for your eyeglasses and dentures. Personal items should be stored safely so they are not disposed of. Consult your nurse if you have concerns.

Medications from Home

As part of the admission assessment, a list of your medications, dosage and how they are taken will be recorded. If you bring medications with you, they will be sent home with your family.

Nursing Services

As part of an interdisciplinary team, Nursing Service provides 24-hour care by qualified competent staff, consisting of Certified Nurse Assistants, Licensed Practical Nurses, Registered Nurses, Certified Surgical Technicians, Certified Sleep Technicians and Unit Clerks.

Upon admission, assessment of your condition and needs is performed. The physician orders for admission and treatment are integrated with the interdisciplinary plan of care. Other members of our health care team are called upon based on your needs.

Your Meals

Your physician will specify the diet that best meets your medical and nutritional needs.

Meal times are as follows:

Breakfast: 8:00 a.m.
Lunch: 11:45 a.m.
Dinner: 5:00 p.m.

A Room Service Menu is also available for patients who wish to self-select their meals. There may be other restrictions based on your medical condition. Please consult with a nurse prior to ordering. Patients can order off this menu anytime between 6:00 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. A kitchenette is located on the nursing unit for patient use.

For patients with special diet needs after discharge, a Registered Dietitian will meet with you to explain your diet. If you have questions about your diet or the daily menu, we encourage you to ask to see a Dietitian who will be glad to assist you.

Our full menu public cafeteria is available for family members and visitors.

Hours:

All Day: 6:30 a.m. - 6:30 p.m. Beverage and snacks are available.
Breakfast: 8:00 a.m. - 9:30 a.m.
Lunch: 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.
Dinner: 5:15 p.m. - 6:30 p.m.

24 hour vending machines are located in the Internet Cafe.

Flower Delivery

Your flowers will be delivered to you by our staff. here, at St. Francis we take necessary precautions for the safety of our patients, residents, visitors and staff that may have allergies to flowers and/or plants. We appreciate your patience and cooperation. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause you. Note: Fresh flowers and plants are not allowed in the Intensive Care Unit.

Gifts-Balloons

In order to better meet the needs of patients who may be latex sensitive, only mylar balloons are allowed in the facility. No latex balloons will be delivered to patients or used within the facility.

Mail

Mail is delivered to patients once a day. Stamps may be purchased in the Assisi Gift Shop. If patient mail is received after discharge, efforts will be made to forward the mail on to you.

Television

Color television is available for your use at no charge. If your television is not working properly, ask your nurse to report the problem. For TV Channel information, please turn your TV to Channel 40 which is the St. Francis Channel where you can view: Channel Information; Daily Menu; & Current Activities in the Hospital.

Magazines

The St. Francis volunteers contribute their time and talents to help make your staff a comfortable one. One of many of the services they provide is making magazines available. To request a magazine, ask your nurse.

Smoking

Because we care about your health and the health of others, St. Francis Healthcare Campus provides a smoke-free environment for the patients, visitors, employees and physicians. Smoking is not allowed in the building or on the grounds.
